Where Fundamentals Fuel Power
The Lab’s baseball program is designed for athletes who want to elevate every part of their game—from mechanics to mindset. Led by experienced coaches with collegiate and pro backgrounds, we go beyond traditional reps to build complete ballplayers. Our focus includes hitting and fielding mechanics, position-specific training, arm care, strength and mobility, and mental performance to prepare athletes for the next level.
Whether you’re preparing for tryouts, aiming for college, or refining your off-season, every session is intentional, competitive, and built for long-term success.
Our Coaching Philosophy
At The Lab, we believe great players aren’t born—they’re built. Our baseball development approach blends technical precision, athletic performance, and mental resilience to help athletes take ownership of their progress.
We emphasize quality reps, detailed instruction, and a mindset rooted in accountability and coachability. We teach athletes to understand the “why” behind the work, to show up with purpose, and to trust the process.
We also believe training should be fun, challenging, and deeply motivating. At The Lab, it’s not just about stats or results—it’s about building a foundation that lasts well beyond one season. This is where baseball players become well-rounded athletes and leaders.
Colton Turner
Colton Turner, is the Head Baseball/Softball Trainer at The Lab Performance Therapy and the head coach of Dudes Baseball that plays in the Pacific International League (PIL) Collegiate league. Colton specializes in biomechanics and overall efficiency, with a focus on helping athletes gain velocity while staying healthy and improving their pitching/throwing skills.
Colton has a Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and utilizes mental health performance in sports to help the athlete maximize their potential physically and mentally.
With four years of college baseball experience, and occasionally playing in national men’s fastpitch tournaments, Colton’s passion for the game is evident in everything he does. Colton is committed not only to improving his players' physical performance, but also to enhancing their knowledge of the game and boosting their confidence both on and off the field.
The Velocity Program
Baseball and softball performance continues to rise to unprecedented levels—athletes throw harder, move faster, and produce more power than ever before. This isn’t by accident. Modern athletes are training with intention. They’re building strong, efficient movement patterns and developing strength and power that translate directly to their sport.
The LAB’s Velocity Development Program takes a comprehensive, sport-specific approach that builds the athlete from the ground up. We prioritize durability, movement quality, and power production across the entire kinetic chain. When an athlete moves well, controls their range of motion, and has the strength to apply force rapidly, velocity is a natural outcome—not just a number forced through repetition.
Our program focuses on four key pillars:
1. Mobility & Movement Quality
2. Biomechanics & Kinetic Chain Training
3. Strength & Conditioning
4. Speed & Agility Development
The Outcome
A more resilient, explosive, and efficient athlete—with the mechanics, strength, and movement patterns required to increase throwing velocity safely and sustainably.
This is not just a throwing program. It’s a complete performance system.
-
Mobility is the foundation of efficient movement. Athletes who move well can produce force through a full range of motion and reduce mechanical stress on the joints. This program helps to improves joint health and longevity, supports clean, repeatable mechanics, and reduces injury risk during high-speed movement.
-
Velocity is not created in the arm alone- it is built through the legs, hips, trunk, and ultimately transferred through the arm into the ball.
We train the full sequencing pattern:
Legs → Hips → Torso → Arm → Hand → BallEmphasis is placed on:
Hip-to-shoulder separation
Trunk positioning and timing
Stride length and rotational power
Our methodology includes two-handed med ball throw variations to reinforce power output while minimizing unnecessary stress on the arm.
-
To throw harder, the athlete must produce more force. To produce more force safely, the athlete must be strong and stable.
This program develops:Rotational power
Lower body force production
Core stability and transfer of force
Proper lifting technique tailored to the sport
Our strength system ensures athletes build capacity- not just velocity.
-
Velocity relies on how quickly an athlete can generate and transfer force.
Speed = How fast the body can move
Agility = How efficiently the body can redirect force.
We focus on:First-step explosiveness
Lateral quickness
Acceleration patterns
Coordinated movement transitions.
The result: athletes who move faster, react quicker, and create more power in less time.
